Quick Update: Barn App & Shelter Volunteer
I grabbed a couple screenshots of two things that have me very excited right now: first and foremost, the barn residency application for UC Davis is now open! I already filled out the one from last year as practice, so hopefully the one for this year is not too different and I can get it in right away. I already emailed Emma (the advisor who I actually met with the very first time I ever visited Davis) asking for a copy, since I am not able to drop by the advising center and grab one. (My feeble attempt at humor).
The other great thing is that I will be able to start volunteering at the Coachella Valley animal shelter very soon! I was finally able to go to the sheriff’s office to get my Livescan background check done and it went through right away! I was shocked; the lady said it might take two to six weeks, when it actually only took like two days. When I went to drop the confirmation paper off at the shelter, I got that familiar yearning to go look at the dogs and cats and figure out what I could do to help them. But I have to remind myself, I am doing what I can to help them, I am going to school to learn how to help stop this problem of pet over-population. I might not be able to help any dogs or cats that are alive today, but someday, I will be able to make a difference.
"You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face... You must do the thing you think you cannot do."
-Eleanor Roosevelt
