Boingous, '96 Honda, Seeing Sean, and Good time with Esther

After a particularly stressful week, Bonnie allowed Boing to come down and visit me in Palm Desert. Sean surprised me with the little while furball when I was passed out on the couch. Boing had just had his teeth cleaned and was freshly bathed, so he was extra super adorable. :)
Sean and I were driving to church and saw an old VW bug sitting on the side of the road with a "for sale" sign in the window. We stopped and looked at it for a bit, and began talking about the pros and cons of getting a small, reliable, non-gas-chugging (in other words, the complete opposite of Stan) car for me to take to Davis. Obviously since Davis is a bike town, I would use Betsy for the majority of my transportation. However, having a car to go back and forth from the air port and to get to church and to Woodland if I end up taking any classes out there is essential  My biggest fear is having problems when I am alone and have no one to help and no one to take the car to that I can trust.

The bug wasn't going to work. . . after we did some research, turns out it was not the car for us. However, when we called our friend Joe (he does all the work on our cars now) he told us about this 1996 Honda Civic that he bought to fix up. It's far from perfect; with 230,000 miles and a blown head gasket, it's up there. However, Joe is going to do a partial rebuild of the engine. He said he could get it in solid running condition for around $2,500. We are going to be praying hard about this! I think the selling point for both Sean and myself is that Joe said he would send his daughter 500 miles away in this car after he is done with it. Coming from Joe, that's saying something.

Every once in a blue moon, Sean comes close enough to me in work that I get to see him for a split second. He was cruising down the freeway heading back towards base when he called and I just happened to be close by. In fact, I was shopping with Bonnie at Sam's Club and when I got his call, I dropped everything I was carrying and took off running to see him. I feel bad for abandoning Bonnie, but I was just so excited! She didn't seem to mind too much. :)

One of my greatest friends ever is Esther, a long time Miller family friend. She works at the Palm Desert mall so we go and visit her there from time to time. This time, we waited until she got off shift and then wandered around the mall for a little while. Too much fun! :D
